• The effect of terramycin (OTC) and monensin on methanogenesis were studied using batch activity tests and continuous-flow reactor experiments. Methanogenesis was not adversely affected by OTC but was inhibited by monensin in downflow stationary fixed film reactors at concentrations commonly found in manure. At relatively higher concentrations, monensin stopped methane production.
