Factors affecting safracins A and B production by Pseudomonas fluorescens were studied. Under highly aerobic conditions, FeSO_4 and FeCl_3 at the concentration of 0.01% increased safracin B production and at the concentration of 0.1%, they increased safracin A production. These effects were inhibited by 1% Na_2S_2O_3. The combined effects of these salts with amino acids varied with concentraton : with 0.1% FeSO_4・7H_2O, lysine increased the production of both safracins, while 0.5% alanine decreased the production of both safracins. With 0.01% FeCl_3・6H_2O, 0.1% L-tyrosine, L-alanene, L-tryptophan and Lphenylalanine increased safracn B production.
