Cellulases and β-Glucosidase Production by Mix Shake Cultivation of Scytalidium lignicola and Tricholderma longibrachiatum

A new isolate, Trichoderma longibrachiatum, showed higher production of C_1 cellulase (6.1 fold) and C_X cellulase (1.5 fold) than Scytalidium lignicola. However, β-glucosidase production was only about 15% of that of S. lignicola. Mixed cultivation of S. lignicola and T. longibrachiatum with modification of inoculum and medium composition increased production of C_1 and C_X cellulases by about 40% and of β-glucosidase by 137%. The enzyme production in the mixed culture is comparable to that of other potent producers.
