For citrate fermentation on n-paraffins by Saccharomycopsis lipolytica NT1-33,two semicontinuous cell-recycle systems were investigated in order to prolong the effective production phase, to minimize the product inhibition and to shorten the lag phase preceding the production phase. In the case of the repeated semicontinuous cell-recycle system, the lag phase was shortened and the overall productivity of the acid was maintained at a higher rate (0.92g/l・h) than that with the batch culture (0.58g/l・h), although the productivity during the effective phase decreased gradually.
