The volumetric flow rate of gas entrained from free liquid surface was measured in an aerated stirred tank. The effect of operating variables, impeller diameter and liquid physical properties was investigated, and a correlation based on the method of dimensional analysis was obtained.Experiments on the influence of inorganic salts on the gas entrainment were performed, and from these results it was clarified that the addition of small quantities of salts reduced significantly the gas entrainment velocity.
