Nonlinear-optical properties of thin La_<0.7>Ca_<0.3>MnO_3 films and dynamics of photoinduced phase transition(Magneto-Optical Effect and Measurement)

Strong optical second-harmonic was observed in a centrosymmetric L CMO thin films in ferromagnetic phase and assigned a s magnetization-induced e ffect. B y n on-linear-optical experiment, magnetization is shown to be sensitive for laser illumination. A threshold of photoinduced demagnetisation depends on the films structure : it is drastically decreases in the presence of grain boundaries. For steady state conditions, the SHG field is described by power law with critical exponent 2β=0.64±0.05. Above the threshold a complicated dynamics of photoinduced demagnetization is observed, which is modeled by photoinduced modification of electron phase separation.
