In order to realize a practical storage with higher capacity, near field MO recording has been studied by designing an OFH stable and reliable against contamination. We analyzed an opto-mechanical system including the swing arm, suspension, slider, and developed an OPU adopting the OFH technology with an embedded thin film MO coil, and investigated the properties of lubricants for near field media. A high-frequency ultrasonic cleaning technique is applied and examined for the optical flying slider of the near field recording system to investigate the removal performance of the ultrasonic cleaning method for the sub-micron contaminants produced on the head.
