In spite of the many reports in the United States and Europe on the cases with familiar phyercholesterolemic xanthomatosis, its frequent association with atherosclerotic coronary disease and the suggested mode of inheritance, this syndrome is quite rare in Japan. A female patient with xanthoma tuberosum, hypercholesterolemia and severe atherosclerotic cardiovascular disorders and changes as demonstrated by autopsy has been presented. The family study of the patient revealed that this was of familiar inheritance, and her parents were cousins each other.
