• We generally admit the conception that the conventional 12 lead ECG are the scalar projections of the VCG loop in the direction of each lead axis. The author has explored two electrode sites on the chest (V_x and V_z) on which the precordial lead most resembles to X and Z leads of Takayasu's orthogonal VCG system and advised a new orthogonal VCG "V system " which employs V lead on V_x and V_z as X and Z leads and aVF as Y lead. The V system has thus proved to be satisfactory as an orthogonal VCG and to have many advantages in clinical use.
