Based upon the results of investigations carried out in 1966 and 1976, the author recognized the necessity of timely guidance of motherhood education. Moreover, because of the characteristics of motherhood having physiological, psychological, cultural and social qualities, the author concluded that motherhood education should be done comprehensively and systematically, especially in the field of childcare. Most of girl-students are mainly taught the physiological function of menstruation, so that they have difficulty in thinking of their menstruation from the psychological, cultural and social points of view and in realizing its significance. They are unable to grasp their sex role in future family living and to keep their minds fixed upon their own problems at puberty; therefore, some of them seem to deny their menstruation. The author thinks that the content of the field on childcare should include not only infancy which is the main theme at the present time, but also motherhood with reference to puberty; so that, girl-students would have a reasonable oppotunity to understand true motherhood from all points of physiological, psychological, cultural and social qualities.
