The number of the married women who have work has been steadily on the increase. In 1955 they accounted for 21% of the employed women : in 1960, 25% : in 1962, 28.7% : and and today, above 30%. Now the social conditions in Japan today are such that it is no easy thing for them to harmonize their life at place of work and that at home. How to harmonize them is the greatest problem those women are faced with. The present paper, which is based on the survey I made of a number of places of work, aims at showing the real state of things in this connection and pointing out how the future homemaking education in schools should be organized to cope with the situation.
