A theoretical attempt is given of the mechanical behavior of the human gravid uterus at organ level which, on the basis of theory of shell and vibration theory, may considered to be operating in the uterine wall and acting upon the content of the uterine cavity (fetus, placenta etc.) during the first stage and the second stage of labor. The mechanical and physiological factors involved in the action of the human gravid uterus in vivo are still inadequately known, owing to the peculiar limitations which are imposed upon all experimental techniques for observing them. In this static action, model having the shell in the form of a surface of revolution loaded with respect to their axis and the symmetrical deformation of the shell may be used to represent the human gravid uterus at organ level under some assumption, as shown in Figs. 1,2,and 3. We obtained three equation of equilibrium, Eqs. (1-1), (1-2), and (1-3) on the uterine shell and calculated displacements in symmetrically loaded uterine shell having the form of a surface revolution. The forces T_ψ, T_θ, and S_<ψθ> = S_<θψ> are sometimes called membrane forces. On the dilatation of external os during the first stage, we considered the case of bending of a plate by shearing forces Q_θ untiformly distributed along the inner edge (Fig. 4). In this dynamic action, considering the vibration systems of the uterine shell and the content of the uterine cavity, the problems becomes the solution of motion equation (Eqs. (4-1), (4-2)) as well known. the application of this solution will be discussed in the following paper.
