The distributions of fluorescence intensities in burner flames were obtained using a system of Nd: YAG-dye lasers and image-intensified CCD camera. Temperature was determined using a two-line method. The concentration was obtained using a doping method of nitrogen-diluted NO gas into flames. Three different burners were tested. The first is a laboratory burner of 30mm diameter. The fluorescence intensity distributions in methane-air flames were measured along laser beams. Absolute concentrations of NO were determined through calibrating comparison with the data of NO-doped flames. The maximum mole fraction was in 80-100 ppm. Two different types of cooking burners of LNG town gas were tested for comparing the relative NO emission levels. One is an old type; the other is a new type of low-NOx emission. The fluorescence intensity of the new type burner is lower than that of the old type. This result is in good agreement with the data obtained using sampling probes.
