Factor considered in this study was whether or not the subjects smoked tabacco. The findings showed that a history of smoking was associated with marked negative effects in patients with pneumoconiosis (dusty lungs). The residual magnetic field was measured after switching of the excitation current to the coils. It was found that the relaxation time constant for a healthy subject was much shorter than those for subjects with higher particle concentrations. These results suggest that it is possible to measure lung function through a comparison k direction), followed by a second magnetization in the opposite direction was also measured. This revealed that in a healthy subject the magnetization of the lung was determined by the direction of the immediately preceding magnetic field strength, first in on direction, then in the reverse. However, in the group of subjects who were both welders and tabacco smokers, the second reverse magnetization at no effect. This may also become an important new method for measuring lung function.
