Solid lubricant MoS_2 films deposited by radio-frequency sputtering and a new physical process were applied to bearings and ball screws used in seismic support mechanical snubbers. The lubricity of MoS_2 films was maintained throughout 720 hours of exposure at a temperature of 200 ℃. The endurance life of MoS_2 fi1ms using both radio-frequency sputtering and a new physical process was investigated by subjecting the mechanical snubber to a drag force test. Cumulative drag length reached lOO meters and 400 meters, respectively, for the two methods. The dynamic characteristics and durability of mechanical snubbers in an abnormal environment were also investigated.
