In the field of sound diagnostics for rolling element bearings, the author developed a broadband noise-canceling algorithm by use of adaptive line enhancer (ALE), which is one of the applications of adaptive filters. This paper is an introduction of the algorithm and reports of the effectivity verification results based on electrical signal simulation data, and experimental equipment and facility data. It showed that S/N was improved for sound signals which periodic signals to be paid attention had been buried in the broadband noise such as a bearing flaw characteristic sound signal by using this algorithm.
