Absorption chillers, namely absorption refrigerators with aqueous solution of lithium bromide, have been used widely for the space cooling of large buildings in Japan. Their development are oriented to make compact size machines for domestic utilization. Therefore, vertical plate-type absorption chillers are considered in this report. Steam absorbed phenomena are dealt and simulated for the absorber, which is the largest volume element in the machine. Simulations are carried out with fluid properties of steam at low pressure and high concentrate aqueous solution of Lithium Bromide, and with considering pressure drop caused by the steam flow in high speed. The amounts of steam absorbed into aqueous solution are related with the path width for steam stream between cooling plates in the absorber as well as system pressure and solution concentration.
