This paper describes a study about Stirling engine with a new mechanism. A eccentric pin on a planetary gear drives the displacer piston in such a manner that the displacer piston stays for a while near the both dead centers and moves fast during them. This mechanism is applied to a γ type engine. Calculation based on isothermal model indicates 9% increase of indicated work. The working fluids used in this experiment are compression air and helium. From the experimental results, the shape of P-V diagram was similar to the calculated one. The purpose of research is to develop the new mechanism, to establish a difference of conventional engine type, and to point out the problem of new engine.
