I201 A STUDY ON STRATIFIED INJECTION USING DUAL FUEL FOR SIMULTANEOUS REDUCTION OF NO_X AND SOOT IN A D.I. DIESEL ENGINE(Engine spray)

In the present study, simultaneous reduction of soot and NOx in a diesel engine using stratified injection system of dual fuel (diesel-methanol) was tried. The nozzle and fuel injection pump of conventional injection system were remodeled to inject dual fuel from the same injector. The quantity of each fuel was controlled by micrometers, which were mounted at rack of injection pumps. The injection ratio of dual fuel was certificated by volumetric ratio. Cylinder pressure and exhaust gas were measured and analyzed under various supplying ratio of duel fuel. These were confirmed possibility that combustion of dual fuel by using modified injection system in a D.I. diesel engine was possible and soot and NOx could be simultaneouslyreduced by stratified injection
