This paper presents discussions on predicting turbulence and heat transfer in a square sectioned 180° U-bend duct at Re = 56700 by cubic nonlinear eddy viscosity models. The cubic low-Reynolds-number k-ε , k-ε-A_2 and k-ε-A turbulence models are evaluated in the flow field computation. In the heat transfer field, the performance of a quadratic gradient diffusion heat transfer model is compared to that of the standard linear gradient diffusion model. The results suggest that the nonlinear modelling of turbulence and heat transfer is very successful for predicting the three dimensional turbulent flow and heat transfer in the U-bend duct.
