An experimental study was performed on the stability limits due to the interaction between Karman vortex streets and the premixed flames stabilized in a wake region behind a cylindrical rod. The stability limits vary depending on the scale and the strength of the vortices and the methods of interaction between the flame and vortices. However, the characteristic ignition time at the stability limits is dependent solely on the equivalence ratio, not on the scale and the strength of the vortices and the methods of interaction between the flame and vortices. This indicates that the model of flame stability proposed by Lewis and Von Elbe can be applied to the stability limits of the premixed flame due to the interaction between the flame and vortices.
