Heat dissipating density from power modules in a drive control system of a high speed elevator are getting large and compact air cooled heat sinks are required. We have developed compact cross fin tube heat pipe heat sinks (CFT-HPHS) by utilizing high performance cross fin tube heat exchangers mostly used in air conditioners. The CFT-HPHS was experimentally and analytically demonstrated to have 3 times larger thermal conductance per its total volume comparing with a conventional heat pipe heat sink.
