Using water-LiBr as a working medium, we developed an environmentally safe absorption refrigerating machine that can generate temperatures of below O℃. This machine-uses a dilute LiBr solution as a refrigerant to prevent the refrigerant from freezing at evaporation temperatures of below O℃. It has a two-stage cycle design consisting of two pairs of evaporators and absorbers, with the low-temperature absorber being cooled by the high-temperature evaporator, to enable a wide pumping draw-up temperature range. We describe the design of our machine and provide simulation results of its operation.
