This paper presents a numerical simulation of fluid flow through a curved heated rectangular duct where secondary flow and heat transfer characteristics are examined in the presence of external heating on the concave or convex duct wall. A finite volume computational model based on vorticity-stream function formulation is developed for the flow and is solved using Strongly-Implicit-Procedure. Numerical simulation is performed on ducts of aspect ratio 1 to 8 with a curvature ratio of 5. Dean number of the flow is varied from 20 to 500 while external wall heat fluxes up to 200 W/m^2 are secondary flow behaviour in air flowing through curved heated rectangular ducts of several selected aspect ratios. Influence of inner and outer wall heating is studied for a range of flow conditions. Results are presented to illustrate the effects of Dean number and extemal heating on the secondary flow behaviour in the duct.
