A conductive laminate consisting of stacked two-dimensional plain-weave screen with an arbitrary weave angle is described. Similar to orthogonal screen laminates, these porous matrices can be fabricated to have a wide range of porosity, ε and specific surface area, β; and the structure can have a highly anisotropic thermal conductivity vector, with in-plane effective thermal conductivities ranging to about 78.5% of base material values. A heat transfer model is developed. The model shows, the effective thermal conductivity of orthogonal weave screen laminates is independent of the orientation of the wire filaments. The model also shows the diamond-weave pattern has greater metal fractions and specific surface areas than equivalent orthogonal weaves. Furthermore, the effective thermal conductivity is a strong function of weave angle.
