This paper deals with the role of temperature in the behavior of fatigue cracks in a Titanium alloy (Ti6A14V). Push-Pull tests (R=-1) with an imposed level of steady torsion were carried out under different levels of temperature (-100℃ ; 20℃ ; 200℃ and 400℃) in ambient air. At each temperature the role of steady torsion on the shape of the da/dN-Kmax curve was assessed. The crack propagation rate, roughness influence on crack closure and the fatigue threshold, K_<th>, were studied in relation to the mechanism of propagation of cracks. The effect of temperature in the referred subjects was discussed. A 'fatigue ductile-fragile transition temperature' was detected. Tests were done with round specimens with a pre-crack, and a DCPD controlling system was used to measure the crack growth.
