Corrosion resistance of three alloys (Alloy 625, type 347H stainless steel and 2.25Cr-lMo steel) was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in the simulated waste incineration environments. Furthermore the feasibility of EIS technique as a corrosion monitoring method for boiler tubes was evaluated in an actual incineration plant. HC1 in the test environment was accelerated the corrosion of all the alloys, but the effect of H2O in air on corrosion of alloys was different individually. In both laboratory tests and field tests, it was found that there was a good correlation between l/Rp' (reciprocal of experimental polarization resistance) and corrosion rate of alloys. From these results, it is concluded that EIS can be an effective method for monitoring corrosion rates of boiler tubes in waste incineration plants.
