The performance of repair welds on service-aged 2.25Cr-lMo piping using SMAW with post weld heat treatment was experimentally evaluated. A series of tests were conducted on two different levels of degraded material repair welded under different condition. Creep rupture life of the repair weldment was almost same as that of service-aged base metal and repair weld was not a weak link. The remaining life of repair welded joint wouldn't be reduced by repair welding. In creep-fatigue test with strain holding, the specimen was fractured at heat affected zone generated by repair welding. This result may be caused by strain concentration at HAZ under strain holding. The Charpy impact value of repair weldment was much higher than that of service-degraded base metal. The repair weld was effective in restoring the toughness.
