SA-01-4(063) Application of Risk-Based Maintenance on 600MW fossil-fired power plant(Life Assessment of Thermal Power Plant 1)

We have generated a high-level inspection plan for a 600MW fossil-fired power boiler that has operated for over 100,000 hours. The plan is based on Risk-Based Maintenance (RBM) technique that is defined as a multiplication the likelihood of a component failure by the consequence of the failure within semi-quantitative method. That is based on engineering judgment, supported by necessary life assessment. The assessment provides for both the safety and financial risk of failure of each pressure parts of the boiler. According to the assessment, the study shows that the inspection period components can be extended from 24 months to 48 months with the improved maintenance plan. The RBM is only one technique to improve maintenance plan of the plant that consider inspection priority, safety, and reduction of costs at the same time.
