In this paper, the steady-state reference rupture stresses are presented for a wide range of internally pressurised plain pipes, subjected to a range of additional end loading. Creep damage FE calculations were performed to obtain accurate failure lives and to determine the skeletal point rupture stresses, using material constants for three low alloy CrMoV ferritic pipe steels. Steady-state FE calculations were performed to determine the reference rupture stresses. The results confirm the validity of the general application of the steady-state reference rupture stress to the life prediction of plain pipes for the various geometries and additional end load situations.
