Experiments have been conducted for channel turbulent flow obstructed with a square rod placed perpendicular to the flow. Simultaneous measurements of velocity and temperature were taken by making use of laser Doppler velocimetry and cold-wire probe in the case when the space ratio, c^*=0.4. Also, hot-wire probe inserted into the test section was used to detect simultaneously a reference signal synchronized with the periodic wake flow from the square rod. Wavelet analysis applied to the velocity and temperature signals according to the reference signal was found effective for the extraction of periodically changing patterns of flow and the thermal fields. Through the analysis, intense dissimilarity was related to the intensification of cold wallward and hot outward interactions, respectively, which occurs depending on the existence periodical change of wake flow structure downstream of the square rod.
