This paper reports an exhaustive study of a class of non-linear Cellular Automata (CA) which is capable of perform Pattern Recognition task. The special class of CA is referred to as Generalized Multiple Attractor Cellular Automata (GMACA). The study deals with the evolution of the desired GMACA rule space along with the direction of evolution. This study confirms that the rule space of GMACA having pattern recognizing capability lie around the edge of chaos.
