As finishing of the gear, the gear honing using grinding wheel shaped in internal gear is often used recently. However, it becomes urgent to extend the grinding wheel life and to lower the cost for the processing. In this paper, on the hypothesis that the deflection of grinding wheel is greatly concerned with its life, the method for lengthening the usable depth of the grinding wheel was examined. As a result of investigation under the assumption that work (or dress-gear) and grinding wheel constituted the internal skew gear, it was proven that the change of the form of contact line gives large effect in the deflection of the grinding wheel. So, it was advised that the fluctuating crossed axes angle system extended the grinding wheel life. And, in the dressing, when the distance between dress-gear shaft (or work shaft) and tool shaft was given, the method for deciding the appropriate angle, which both shafts make, was proposed. And this paper describes how geometric quantities such as sliding velocity and sliding angle, which affect the grinding efficiency, change when this system was adopted. Finally, the gear honing using the fluctuating crossed axes angle system was tested. According to the experimental result, the effectiveness of this system was verified.
