A new sound absorption structure has been developed, which is made of cellular rubber containing both open and closed cells with through holes. The design of the structure makes it possible to increase the magnitude of sound absorption coefficient of arbitrary frequency ranges. This desired sound absorption charactaristic performs by selecting size and arrangement of the through holes and cannot be found in conventional sound absorption materials. It is guessed that the shift of the sound absorption peak is occered by the interference of refrected sound waves.
