The inner diameter of vortex flowmeter is generally smaller than the one of the connected pipes to avoid the influence by the restriction of cross sectional area resulting from the eccentricity of the piping. Further, the shorter the length of conduit is, the more compact and the cheaper the flowmeter is. This paper describes what length of the conduit is the most stable for generating the pitch of Karman vortices and that the accurate flow measurement can be obtained with several examinations using different shapes of bluff bodies.
