The application of the Westinghouse Owner's Groups (WOG) Methodology for Risk-Informed In-service Inspection of piping has been well documented in papers presented at ICONE-8,ICONE-9,and ICONE-10. The use of Piping Risk-Informed In-service Inspection has been applied in the United States and in the international community. This paper expands the discussion to address the direct application of the methodology to high-energy line break exclusion regions and high-energy piping hazards assessments. The use of this methodology for this application demonstrates the practical aspect of focusing the piping examinations in critical areas, reducing undue burden of examinations, enhancing plant performance, and assessing plant health in the areas of commercial reliability and plant safety. This paper also discusses the use of this methodology in design to assess the impact of both existing and proposed design modifications on plant commercial reliability, general plant health, and plant safety.
