An advanced reprocessing process of spent nuclear fuel has been developed in JAERI for establishing the fuel cycle of reduced-moderation water reactor (RMWR) as a next generation water-cooled reactor, based on the experienced light water reactor (LWR) technologies. The advanced reprocessing process is one cycle PUREX process having Np scrubbing to achieve cost effectiveness, process safety and volume reduction of radioactive waste containing TRU elements. In this paper, new technologies applied in the advanced reprocessing process are described.
