Present situation and question about cellulosic biomass utilization are presented and history of biomass gasification since oil crises is described in 1 and 2. Ebara Corporation's experience on biomass gasification is shown in 3. Finally, typical biomass gasification processes inside and outside of Japan, including TPS process, are introduced in 4. It is known that various types of fluidized-bed gasifier are employed, considering biomass's own features such as high water content and poor gridability.
