This paper is concerned with the relation of energy conversion between instability phenomena of the vibrational systems and the fish propulsion mechanism. In the vibrational systems they are simplified as a two degrees of freedom system and the instability of column subjected to tangential force, tubular cantilever conveying fluid, flutter of the wing and oil whip of rotor system are investigated by calculating the eigenvalue, phase angle and vibrational energy for instability mode. In the fish propulsion system, the vibration mode of the fish is analyzed from the viewpoint of phase angle between deflection and attack angle. Then the relation of energy conversion is discussed.
