Transient Characteristics of Flat-plate Solar Collector

A flat-plate solar collector moidel with uniform capacity distribution was proposed, and its basic equations were derived, to discuss transient characteristics for periodic solar-intensity variation. The finite difference calculations based on these equations showed better agreement with the experimental results than the results calculated by a previous method. Then, for the general treatment of collectors covering a wide purpose, the basic equations were normalized, and eleven non-dimensional parameters affecting the outlet water temperature variation were clarified. The influences of the parameters were discussed and summarized.
