A precise determination of both superheats at boiling incipience and boiling heat transfer of liquid metals is required for practical engineering problems. From this point of view, numerous experiments on boiling heat transfer in liquid metals have been reported since more than ten years ago. There exists, however, a large scatter among these experimental data. The main purpose of this experiment is to try to find a dominant factor by which so large a scatter is caused. The heating surface used in this experiment was machined only by a lathe, considering a practical use. Superheats at boiling incipience and boiling heat transfer coefficient were measured in the pressure range from 0.01 kg/cm^2 up to 2.0 kg/cm^2, and the discussion especially on the effect of dissolved gas was presented.
