Shape of Strip Steel in Cold Rolling Process

In this report, the authors proposed the definition of shape of strip and described the relationship between finished strip crown and shape concerning the initial condition of strip before rolling. A tension and a roll crown control are applied to improve the shape ; but strip tension can not improve the strip shape over a certain limit, thus a roll crown control becomes necessary. The characters of strip shape are discussed with a view to appreciate the effective factors associated with shape, roll crown of work roll and backup roll, roll dimension, especially roll body length to strip width. The principle and the performance of shape measuring instrument are described.
