A finite aluminum specimen is subjected to impact load by an impact testing machine which was construdted by the author and the propagation behavior of plastic waves in the specimen is observed by plastic gauges attached to the specimen. The experimental results are analyzed through use of two rheological models, i.e. 5 elements-model and 4 elements-model. The analytical strain-time histories based on the 5 elements-model approximately coincide with the experimental strain histories. The analytical strain-time histories based on the 4 elements-model do not agree with the experimental ones.
