In stress-strain analysis for general construction, it is essential to obtain principal strains especially in elastic-plastic region, separating one from the others. In a previous paper, the author found that the photo-elastic fringe order under biaxial stress is proportional to stress difference up to the plastic region, using polycarbonate materials. The author proves here that the sum of principal strains becomes proportional to Mach-Zehnder interferences under biaxial, stress state, applying the Moire method and the interferometric method simultaneously.
