The coefficient of moment c_f of polymer solutions which have viscoelastic properties in the laminar and transitional region from the laminar to the turbulent flow, have been measured by a new type torque pick-up. it is shown that c_f of the dilute polymer solutions under the laminar glow condition increases only slightly compared with Newtonian fluids, but in the particular limiting case of the polymer solutions in which more viscoelastic effects occur there is some reduction compared with c_f of Ostwald de-Waele power-law fluid. In the transition region, the variations of c_f with Reynolds number become gentle compared with Newtonian fluids.
