Prof. Naruse worked out the general equations of involute spur gears, called Naruse's general equations in 1932,which made an epoch in the design of gears. However, they have not been used enough, because of the complicated form and some difficult processes in the application. The writer tried to find the way for using them easily. (1) He transformed them into a simple form, (2) caluculated the mathematical tables of the basic functions for deciding the tooth height and the tooth thickness, (3) represented all the conditions for the design by the conditional equations of the parameter K_1 and K_2,(4) and constructed a method of selecting the characteristic values from the curves depicted on the K_1-K_2 plane and determining the dimensions after that.
