• "Nanotechnology" has been analyzed from the viewpoints of industrial science and technology and from the manufacturing technology. The trends and characteristics of nanotechnology are described and the importance of nano-manufacturing has been stressed. The role of thermal engineering and the transport phenomena in the microscale effects has been explained and the importance of the active control of heat transfer and the transport phenomena was focused for controlling the microscale phenomena.
