• The International Standards Organisation (ISO) is currently in the process of developing standards in the field of condition monitoring and diagnostics. This paper provides on overview of the work being carried out by Subcommittee 5 (SC 5) of Technical Committee 108 which has been given the scope, "Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics of Machines" and encourages both academics and practitioners to becoming involved in this important area of international standardization in a truly multidisciplinary field.
