First of all, Yamawaki (1954) in our laboratory has confirmed that there should be a close correlation between the high incidence of leukemia among the exposed persons and the exposure to the atomic radiation on the basis of 6-years statistics of leukemia in Hiroshima from 1946 to 1951 that he summarized and surveyed. Succeeding his investigations, Wago and Ito, also of our laboratory summarized and presented the data up to date (Watanabe, 1957, 1957; Watanabe, Wago and Ito, 1958; Hirose, 1958; Watanabe and Ito, 1959). Besides our investigations, we can find some papers which were presented by other workers (Valentine, 1951; Folley et al., 1952; Lange et al., 1954; Moloney et al., 1954, 1955; Wald, 1957, 1958, 1958; Heyssel et al., 1959). The estimated number of the Atomic Bomb survivors, depended on the results of the municipal census in Hiroshima taken by the city in 1956 is represented by A, in Fig. I and Table 1 and the estimated number of the Atomic Bomb survivors in each year since 1950 to 1955, depended on the results of the census taken by the Japanese Government in 1950, from which the number of death-notices among those people during that period was excluded by Nishida in our school in 1957 is represented by B. The intermediate value between A and B is represented by C, which is thought to be more reliable value than those of the former two, because of the facts that A has not included a number of exposed individuals not registered for their own personal reasons and B has not included a number of death-notices from some exposed individuals not submitted to the city but some other places where they had had their census registrations.
