As is well known, there are two types of brittle lacquer, which are baking and air drying. Generally, the strain sensitivity of brittle lacquer of air drying type is more insensitive than that of baking one. In case of experimental strain analysis using this type of lacquer, cracking does not easily occur over lacquer coating than when baking type is used. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop an advanced method which produces cracking in coating under a lower stress than that in air. Since Calcium-Rosin is used as basic ingredient for both types of lacquer coating, the "solvent-cracking" previously reported is assumed to be satisfying also in this case. The author has carried out to find an advanced method. Several medium which decrease the "cracking-resistance" are found. They are polyfunctional alcohols such as diethylene glycol, 1, 4-butanediol and others diluted by distilled aqua. Experimental strain analysis using brittle lacquer of air drying type has been very difficult so far, but applying this advanced method, miscarriage in experiment can be prevented.
